Starting out as two guys who know a bit about music and not a great deal about wine, we have embarked on a bit of a journey. We spent 2025 learning, what turned out to be a not insignificant amount, about wine as well as reviewing over 300 albums and EPs.
This weekly podcast features a wine tasting where a selected bottle from around the world is subjected to our (sometimes haphazard) scoring system, a round up of a few, well chosen, ‘nuggets’ from the world of music news and in-depth reviews of some of the newly released records from the previous week.
Musical reviews and associated discussion tend to focus heavily on the more extreme and alternative genres – but it isn’t unusual for one of us to pull out a bit of a curve ball from other worlds such as pop or classical. Most of our reviews are pretty in-depth and we pride ourselves on the levels of consideration and critique that we dedicate to each record we choose. Indeed, many bands that feature have let us know that it is a breath of fresh air to hear us, as reviewers, really getting to the parts that other reviewers don’t reach.
Everything is done with a level of humour and laughter (at times, uncontrollable – like when Jaff admitted to some of his accidental internet searches) – giving our listeners a weekly pick-me-up and an opportunity to let us do the work when it comes to sniffing out new music.
